I Heart Melbourne

April 28th 2008 10:15

My Melbourne…
Aches with the desire to fill within me
A need to want more from this life so fleeting
Each building that kisses this wonderful skyline
Rains inspiration gently upon my shoulders

My Melbourne…
Evokes pure joy when its sun kisses the horizon
Day in and day out Melbourne whispers to me

Into my open arms, please meander, do savour
My fever, my people, vivacious and brazen
Yet tender, charming, seductively surrounding
Encasing you within this city of love

My Melbourne…
A stubborn, cruel yet deeply cherished tutor
An abundant collection of lessons await
Love, amity, choice and repercussions
At every lane way a new chapter begins

My Melbourne…
Winding trams hold its people’s secrets
Conversations scandalous, inspirational
Tender and delicious
Every street, its own culture
Every corner its own past
Seducing my senses, my passions, my desires

My Melbourne…
Grateful I await every morning with glee
For my love affair with this tempestuous city
Ignites inspiration that fuels my dreams
A perpetual whirlwind of shivering delights

My Melbourne…
My soul lies with this city alone
Forever bound her and I
Delectably mysterious our journey will be
The very reason,
I will always heart Melbourne…

Better Left Unsaid

April 27th 2008 08:57
To someone who became very special in a very short time...

Priceless...

I could tell you
That you were one of the loveliest people I have ever known
And because of you, I have for the better, grown
But I guess some things are better left unsaid…

I could tell you
That you made me feel so good
To be treated like I knew I should
But perhaps some things are better left unsaid…

I could tell you
That you made these few moments we shared
The most wonderful, and to nothing, I can compare
But maybe these things are better left unsaid…

I could tell you
Although you may not believe it to be true
You deserve more than you think you do
I‘m wondering, is all this still better left unsaid…

There were many things I would have liked to say
About all these feelings I didn’t reveal
I was scared, for just in case
Saying them aloud would make them real

Because time for us was fleeting
And we couldn’t get in too deep
And though we could only do so much
I have lasting memories my heart will always keep

I believe life is too short to keep things hidden
So I thought in a poem I would let you know
That I adored every moment spent with you
And I wish you never had to go

And I know, there are some things that should sometimes, just be said.

Nobu? Sounds more like No-POO!

April 17th 2008 04:47
When you’ve been more of a spectator rather than a participant in the dating game, you tend to forget just how amusing and fun the whole experience can be.

I like to give anyone who I find even vaguely intriguing a fair go. Because I know that even if nothing eventuates, I’ll walk away from it with a great story to tell.

Dating someone younger however has always been a question mark for me. But determined to stay true to my new year’s resolution of being non-judgemental I took a punt and went on a couple of dates with a lad who was a few years younger.

He was cute as button, quirky hair and complete with an eyebrow ring. All in all, a total spunk. I had this cutie pegged as a total playboy but as it turned out he was anything but. He was attentive, sweet, unassuming and gentle.

What I found most refreshing was that he seemed so untouched by the scepticism that often dogs those who have had a more than a few relationships turn sour.

It made me recall the day I first fell in love. I was starry eyed, eager, sweetly naïve and willing to put in everything I had into my relationship.

Safari, whom I’ve been discussing this with, said it perfectly- “Neems, the first time is just so unique. You feel you have enough love for the both of you and this will sustain you against anything and everything you might face. You feel you don’t need anyone else as long as you have each other”.

You simply aren’t aware or even care about the risks of heartache, holding back and being cautious. You’re at the height of vulnerability and yet feel stronger than ever. It’s a feeling worth remembering because you don’t always get that back. Once you’ve been hurt, the next time around is usually taken with less gusto.

So there we were, strolling along the banks of the Yarra with me still floating from reminiscing about my first love. Wondering whether I could perhaps once again feel that free and easy as the boy holding my hand was, when the reality of dating someone younger became suddenly apparent.

I pointed out Nobu, a restaurant recently opened by Robert De Niro and world renowned. I mentioned that I’d really like to try it out one day.

To which he replied.

“Nobu? Sounds more like No-Poo”.

Sigh.

Dangerous Habits

April 8th 2008 03:03
Last year after a 5 week trip around the United States I came back home having lost a fair amount of weight. People at the office and a few of my friends all commented how fabulous I looked and how the trip seemed to have really agreed with me.

Little did they know that I came back to find myself looking far more critically at my body than ever before. Suddenly, I felt compelled to lose more weight and became too concerned with the food I was eating. Tooting the “I’m eating healthy” spiel, I lived on leafy salads, cut out carbohydrates and fried food completely, while lunches consisted of only two sushi hand rolls and a bottle of water. Dinner was usually less
